My name is Teresa (Tess) Smith-Burchell and I reside in Townsville. I am an Occupational Therapist who has worked with adult clients in mental health and forensic mental health (people in contact with or at risk of becoming in contact with justice systems) for 24 years in Queensland and London. I am qualified to provide mental health and Occupational Therapy specific assessments, draft reports, provide recommendations and interventions.

I have experience in assessing clients and drafting reports with recommendations for
medicolegal purposes
functional, life skills
complex risk and management plans.
I have comprehensive knowledge, experience and understanding to support people whose daily activities are impacted associated to their mental health /ill health. I work utilising a client centered wholistic framework to assist clients to work within their values and motivations towards their identified goals. I understand the importance of providing psychoeducation and working with the client to assist their family, friends and supports to better understand general mental health and navigate the mental health and/or justice systems.

I continue to provide Occupational Therapy specific and mental health clinical supervision to staff/colleagues with a vast range of experience, from student level to mature experienced. I have facilitated and delivered numerous psychoeducation programs to staff at Government and Non Government organisations on themes of mental health and forensic mental health. I am available to discuss the psychoeducational and/or supervision needs within your organisation.

I provide face to face and telehealth appointments, in Cairns, Townsville, Mackay and North West Queensland.

I have NDIS disability worker screening and employer numbers and am a registered provider with Medicare.
