WHAT IS PEER SUPPORT FOR MENTAL HEALTH?
Peer Mentors usually understand what you are going through because they have gone through something similar. They can offer a safe and honest relationship where you won't feel judged or stigmatised. Peer Mentors provide companionship, encouragement, hope and practical skills for recovery. We help to build your confidence and self- esteem.
We can support you to attend classes or groups, to go for walks or get outdoors, or we can simply chat with you over a cuppa
The relationship is mutual. Peer Mentors may have tips and skills about recovery which they can share with you. At the same time, they are open to learning from you, because they know that every person has something to share.
